Annual District Report Survey

Each March, we conduct a Solid Waste Survey on the waste stream practices of industries and commercial businesses in our District.   The surveys are mailed to businesses that may generate waste from in Jefferson or Belmont Counties.  The purpose of this survey is to collect data on the amounts and types of materials commercial and industrial businesses recycled in Jefferson/Belmont County’s during the previous year.

This survey requests information on the materials that were recycled or disposed of during the previous calendar year.   Paper, cardboard, glass, metals, batteries, plastics, tires, and yard waste account for a majority of the materials reported.

The data received is used to measure progress and identify areas that need attention.   The Authority is required to document its recycling efforts in an annual report to Ohio EPA. The Authority uses the data it receives through surveys to help complete that report. By submitting data, your business will provide valuable information, helping the Authority track its progress towards meeting local and state recycling goals.

Why is your business being surveyed?
Your business is located in the Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority. The Authority facilitates recycling and reduction efforts for commercial and industrial businesses, institutions, residents, and schools. In order to determine what programs make the most sense and whether programs are achieving intended results, the Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority needs to know what and how much material was recycled.

Your completed survey will help the Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority better understand recycling in the business community in Belmont and Jefferson Counties. Submitting a completed survey also allows your business to connect directly with the Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority which may be able to assist your company with its recycling needs.

What happens to my data?
The Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority will combine your data with data it receives from other businesses and submit the combined data in its annual report to Ohio EPA. Ohio EPA will use the data to calculate recycling rates for the Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority.  The Ohio EPA will also combine the data reported by all solid waste management districts to calculate a recycling rate for Ohio.

This years deadline for the (2017 Calendar Year data) Survey is April 6th, 2018.  

When you have completed your survey, you can mail, email or fax it to the Jefferson Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority Steubenville Office.  Instructions for completing and returning the survey are provided on the survey form.
