ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS

Materials

The following is a list of recyclable items accepted at our Community Drop-Off locations.  Please see the Curbside page for “how” materials are accepted in those programs since they are to be separated differently.

NO PLASTIC BAGS!

Unless they are being used to contain shredded paper.

 

Paper/Cardboard Items

Please refrain from putting paper in plastic bags; they have to be hand-removed by our staff.
 

  • Books - Telephone, soft & hard cover
    Please remove any plastic overwrap.

     

  • Newspaper & Ad Inserts, Magazines & Glossy Ads
    Please remove any plastic overwrap.
     

  • Corrugated Cardboard
    Filled with paper or flattened!
     

  • Paperboard Boxes & Clean Pizza Boxes
    Remove plastics and flatten!
     

  • Cardboard Egg Cartons
     

  • Opened Mail, Envelopes (with windows, stamps, & labels), and greeting cards
     

  • Office paper, manila/pastel colored folders, brochures, computer printouts, FAX paper, loose-leaf paper, memos, post-its, index cards, and pastel colored paper
     

  • Paper shopping bags
    Fill with paper!
     

  • Paper tubes
    Paper towel, wrapping paper, & toilet paper tubes
     

  • Shredded Paper
    Must be paper bagged or boxed! (plastic bag only if no other option)

Commingled Items
 

  • Cans - Bi-metal food & Beverage
    Tip: Rinse, Insert lids, then bend in top to keep sharp lid inside.
     

  • Empty Aerosol Cans
     

  • Clean Aluminum Foil, Pie Pans
     

  • Glass Bottles & Jars
     

  • Plastic’s #'s 1 & 2 (PET  & HDPE), Bottles & Jugs

           Please rinse

NON ACCEPTABLE ITEMS

  • NO dishes, mirrors, light bulbs, window glass, or drinking glasses 
     

  • NO Styrofoam
     

  • NO Other Plastics
     

  • NO Electronics
     

  • NO Motor Oil Bottles
     

  • NO Tires
     

  • NO scrap metal, auto parts, pots or pans
     

  • NO Plastic Bags
    Look for a return bin at your local store.

     

  • Batteries
    We do not accept batteries at our community drop-off recycling sites.  Most alkaline batteries can now be tossed out with your regular garbage.   Check our "What Can I Do With?...." Guidge for what to do with other types of batteries.
